According to the specific needs of each one, marking on metal can take different forms.
Annealing marking, for example, allows to work without any material removal. Struck by a laser beam, the material is locally heated to a temperature near its melting temperature. This heating causes marking through color change. A technique particularly useful in the medical industry as it avoids hollows which may be the nest of microbes or bacteria.
The ablating method corresponds to evaporation removal of part of an over-layer (paint, anodizing, etc.) covering the part to be marked. To reveal bare portions of the part creates a contrast.
Laser engraving technique, meanwhile, is more classic. It allows a deeper marking after melting or evaporation of a portion of the material due to beam intensity.
